For The First Time: Open Day of the Upper Lusatian Half-timbered House
A Day of the Open Upper Lusatian half-timbered house is planned for the first time to take place on 29 May 2005. In many places visitors will be able to go inside an Upper Lusatian half-timbered house. They will have the possibility to have a look at exemplary restorations, to observe handicraft and to get to know many interesting facts about this regional type of architecture.
The Day of the Open Upper Lusatian half-timbered house is an important part of the massive marketing campaign of this regional peculiarity – those more than 20,000 half-timbered houses in Upper Lusatia, North Bohemia, Lower Silesia and in Saxon Switzerland. This unique folk architecture is to gain more public attention to be seen as an connecting element in the border region.
The idea of the whole event was shaped by the Task Force Upper Lusatian Half-timbered House. The Task Force is run by volunteer helpers and salaried employees and takes care of all important projects which deal with the preservation of half-timbered houses within the frame of the Project “Region of the Upper Lusatian Half-timbered House”.
Next Open Day of the Upper Lusatian Half-timbered House: 26.05.2013
